Chiller- Diller Halloween Games

Chill out the curiosity of your guests with some exciting games. Take a tip in this article about some of the most chiller-diller games for your party.

“Bluebeard’s Den” is a good chiller-diller. Prepare for it by hanging an old sheet across one end of an adjoining room. Cut four holes in it big enough to admit a head. Just around and below each of these slits smear the sheet with red paint or some kind of red coloring. Catsup will do. Beforehand arrange with one of the fellows to play Bluebeard and ask one of the girls to pose as his first be-headed wife. Have powder or flour and a big puff handy so that she may powder her face heavily and quickly. At the appointed time the girl gets behind the sheet, thrusts her head through one of the holes and lets her head hang in a grotesque position.

Dim the lights and call in another girl. As Bluebeard swings his blade or shoots his cap gun accompanied by screams from the two girls, the second girl thrusts her head through a hole in the sheet. Repeat the process with a third and fourth girl. When the heads of the four beheaded wives are in place bring the guests, two at a time, from the other room to view the remains. As Bluebeard goes through the motion of showing how he killed each one, the heads moan and scream. This screaming and the report of the cap pistol excite the curiosity of the guests in the adjoining room who are anxiously awaiting their turn to visit Bluebeard’s den.

No Halloween party is complete without a fortunetelling stunt. Beforehand have one of the girls prepared to be your gypsy fortuneteller. Under the umbrella canopy mentioned earlier you can make a realistic-looking fire by laying a few sticks across orange tissue paper with flashlights concealed underneath. Burning incense gives the effect of steam issuing forth. Instruct the fortuneteller to question each one about his last dream. She can interpret these dreams according to the following meanings. If you pick a clever gypsy she can also use her imagination and her knowledge of the client to make the fortunes particularly apt. Some common interpretations of dreams are:
Snakes – deceitful enemies
Lightning – beware of accidents
Falling – beware of money losses, hard times
Crying – joy
Sunset – love affair
Fog – end of your troubles is coming
Writing – will receive an important letter
Laughing – love or business disappointment
Suffering – wealth
Flames – gossip
Black cat or crows – bad news
Riding on train – visitors
Hungry – plenty
Fighting – success in love, prosperity
Strange faces – travel
Tell the crowd its bad luck to follow the leader so you’ll play “Contraries.” Choose a leader who picks his victim. The victim is to do the opposite of what the leader does. Both are provided with chairs and hats. When the leader stands the victim sits. When the leader puts on his hat the victim takes his off. They should act simultaneously. It is almost impossible to do the opposite while watching the leader, much to the enjoyment of the crowd. After a bit let the victim be the leader and choose some smarty who has laughed long and hard, to be his victim. It’s a good game.

Tuna-fish salad tucked into sandwich buns and cheeseburgers are great favorites with teen-agers. Top this off with plenty of cokes or root beer. With some Dixie cups and plenty of mints and nuts the refreshment problem is easily solved. Serve these refreshments buffet style and your friends can squat around the fireplace as they eat. Someone will be sure to tell a blood-curdling ghost story.

Try this superstitious party -it’s a gang get-together that’s really fun. The Bluebeard’s Den is also a top of all game, never miss out.

A new breed of pop is finally here. Fresh from Britain with a unique name and an even more diverse sound, the Ting Tings have infiltrated the world music scene. The combined genius of Jules de Martino and amazing vocals of Katie White give us intoxicating songs like Shut Up and Let Me Go, Great DJ, and That’s Not My Name. Now, as their popularity heightens, we see the Ting Tings’ videos like Shut Up and Let Me Go on famous music channels much to the excitement of Ting Tings fans clubs all over the globe.

The video for Shut Up and Let Me Go played around with the concept of psychedelic pop, arcade games, modernistic shapes, and unadulterated funk of the 21st century. What made the video more interesting are the fight scenes between Jules and Katie. The choreography is seamless and the performance of the two in the video is a sight to behold. The great concept of the video has earned it nominations from various video music awards in Europe.

It might be difficult to believe that such a different-sounding band can penetrate into the crazy world of music industry filled with noisy rock and jaded actors-turned-singers. But better believe it. The Ting Tings’ brand of pop is not just a fad. This might even be their ticket to their dream music career.

Katie White’s exceptional vocal works and feisty stage presence are driving forces that skyrocketed them to the fame they are enjoying at the moment. Put into the mix Jules’ out-of-the-box musical ideas and you get a beautifully repackaged funk pop sans pretentious lyrics and poorly concocted melodies.

The band means business. They are not new talents invented or discovered by some label. Jules and Katie have been in and out of the music biz years before the Ting Tings have been formed. Exposed to different genres, the two have been to hell and back, to band breakups and surviving the harsh reality of the local music scene. Just when they felt tired of the music industry, Jules met Katie, decided to form a band, created their own style, and as the cliché goes, the rest is history.

When the song, Shut Up and Let Me Go started receiving generous airplays in US radios, England has proved to be too small to contain the talent of the duo. Featured in famous American TV shows like Gossip Girl, the songs suddenly became the theme song of music enthusiasts hungry for mainstream originality that doesn’t betray fine artistic taste.

Currently, the Ting Tings is doing their much anticipated European tour encompassing countries like Spain, Germany, Belgium and London. Plans about their Asian tour are already in the works, and soon enough, the rest of the world can have a peek of their amazing live performances. A great future is in store for the band as efforts for another Ting Tings videos are in production.

The Ting Tings, with their signature brand of sound that seems to resemble an eclectic mix of Brit pop and alternative tunes of Franz Ferdinand and Portishead, is out to conquer the world not only with their songs, but with their free-spirited take on the music industry. Coming from different bands, this is not a surprise at all. The different influences that the duo has drove them to pursue music of their own.

Not wanting to be typecast as another British pop band, the Ting Tings worked on the sound they want to create. Instead of copying what is already in out there in the highly commercialized world of pop, this indie pop band decided to listen to their own musical tastes and concocted a flavor that suits their style, or at least would keep them playing as a band. Katie’s vocals and Jules’ uncanny ear for beats conglomerated to form the best British act to ever hit 2008.

The Ting Tings smash hit album, We Started Nothing quickly became a hit among radio stations in England. Soon enough, the infectious tunes and vocals of Katie White and Jules de Martino caught the attention of huge music label, Columbia Records. They were signed with the said label, which paved the way for the Ting Tings lyrics and musings to hit other parts of the world, including the sought after market in the US. Because of this, they were featured in famous TV series like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. The success went rolling and led to the release of the much anticipated Ting Tings’ videos.

They have released 3 music videos for songs, That’s Not My Name, Shut Up and Let Me Go, and Great DJ. All of these videos channel the fun and carefree approach of the duo when it comes to their music. The colorful and psychedelic style of their videos truly captures the essence of their signature beats and lyrics—unbridled and out-of-the-ordinary.

These Ting Tings videos have already received nominations from Video Music Awards in the US and Europe. Because of these, the songs from their debut album are receiving generous airplays all over the world and acclaims from critics and fans alike.

The band is currently producing a video for their next single, Be the One. The song is already making a buzz in radios and it is sure to make a huge hype in the airwaves upon the release of its music video. The video is said to follow the same pattern as videos they’ve produced in the past. The Ting Tings videos, with their own brand of spunk, are sure to captivate more fans worldwide.

The friendship between TomKat and the Becks, two A-List Hollywood couples, has made headlines ever since David and Victoria Beckham moved to America. David Beckham, one of the best football players in the world, and Victoria (a former Spice Girl) went to support Katie Holmes in her play, “All My Sons”. They accompanied Katie’s husband Tom Cruise as they all headed to the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater to watch Katie’s performance.

After the play, the two couples were spotted together in New York City once again. They all met up in the TomKat’s place before heading out with their children in tow. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have a daughter named Suri (Tom also has two adoptive children, Connor and Isabella, with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman) whereas David and Victoria Beckham have three sons named Cruz, Romeo and Brooklyn. TomKat, the Becks, and all their children were seen celebrating Thanksgiving dinner together in Il Cantinori Restaurant in Manhattan.

It has also been rumored recently that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been on the look-out for movies where they can both act together. A source revealed that, “They’re looking at remaking Last Tango In Paris, but anything sexy with a good story appeals. Tom’s looking for something that’s cutting edge and sexy, but also accessible.” He added that “He’s thinking along the lines of Basic Instinct – a movie that has a mainstream plot, but also some intense sex stuff. He hasn’t found the script yet, but both he and Katie are reading a few that could fit the bill.”

The relationship between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes seems to be going strong, and according to Tom his past erratic behavior may have contributed to it. He said, “There are things that I could have done better. I could have handled things better. I was surprised by the criticism but it brought everyone close together. Katie’s entire family and my family. Going through that stuff is not pleasant, and I think it hit an extreme, but Kate’s a very sure and confident and strong woman. She gets it, you know.”

It will surprise no one that Lori, 13, generally wakes up at 6:00 am to plan her outfit for the day. Or that she often checks in with her two closest friends. But according to * Tracy Fontaine, a New York City elementary school teacher, in about a year or so, she may well stop doing that.

“In middle school kids want to be like each other,” explained. “They want to fit in with the crowd, not stand out. Quite often, by the time they hit high school, they’re more willing to branch out and be more independent in the way they think–and the way they dress. They usually have a larger peer group and more defined interests.”

For moms whose kids will only wear Abercrombie polos or a certain style of Levis jeans, that may be hard to believe. And while that behavior may not disappear entirely (Hey, so you’ve never coveted/worn/saved up for a certain designer label?) teens sometimes feel like they have more options as they get older.

One reason may be that as kids get more confident, they don’t feel the need to stick so closely to what they think others want them to wear—they’re more likely to opt for what they want to wear.

“There are so many influences today it’s hard to know where or how kids get their ideas,” admitted one Westchester mom. Trends move so quickly—from TV shows, celebrities, movies, raps stars–it’s hard for adults to follow.

It’s equally hard for the teens themselves sometimes. “My friends and I like to read the fashion magazines to see what’s out there, but we also like to look on certain websites that carry clothes but also show pictures of celebrities and stuff,” admits Diana, 14. “Each season there are usually these really influential shows and you kind of get your cues from there.” But she also admits that it’s hard to keep up—financially as well as fashion wise. “You can’t buy everything,” she laments. “But for some people it’s really important and they’ll, like, judge you if you wear the wrong thing.”

James, 15, who mostly wears polos and khakis or jeans, says he likes Abercrombie shirts not just because it’s fashionable, but because he likes the range of colors and the fit. He swears that if blindfolded, he could tell the difference between his favorite shirt and a different brand. (We have yet to put it to the test.)

Some brands seem to have enormous staying power (Uggs anyone?), but the ante is also continually upped, as teenage girls aspire to a new Marc Jacobs bags or the newest style of Juicy this or Junk Food that. Since characters in TV shows such as “Gossip Girl” are excessively fashion-conscious, that often translates to real life. (Never mind that the show is a fantasy, as emphasized by a number of moms.) It doesn’t seem to matter–they’re the arbiters of cool, and cool often means status labels and high prices.

In an era when entire magazines are given over to shopping or what celebrities are wearing, it’s hard not to be assaulted by it at every turn, and for teens, already insecure, to feel like they have to follow along in order to fit in.

Many kids—especially girls– find trying to keep up to be hugely stressful (as do their parents, thank you very much.).

“I sometimes wish I wore a uniform!” admitted one girl sheepishly. But kids want to be in the know, to be perceived as hip and aware, to be in the vanguard, or at least the group trailing closely behind–of what defines the look of the moment. Of such stuff is teenage life often made, as they struggle to figure out who they are and how they want to be perceived.

Yet pity the poor parents, for whom trends often have unintended consequences:

“I don’t mind the layered look my daughter goes in for,” one suburban Connecticut mom explains. “But the problem is that it means so much more laundry!”

Celebrity Girl Dress Up

People of all ages enjoy celebrity antics and behavior. Even if we hate to watch the latest drama out of Hollywood, it is still hard to turn away when the latest blurb pops up on the evening news. Some of us get a quick fix of the latest starlet drama via entertainment news programs, and others simply scan the headlines at the grocery story.

Still others area more diehard fans and they may frequent celebrity websites or subscribe to magazines that specialize in the latest gossip. However you get your fix of what the Hollywood girls are wearing (or not wearing!) these days, there is a way you probably haven’t heard of – online paper dolls.

Celebrity Dolls?

Many celebrity watchers, or devoted non-watchers who keep up with the gossip to prove how non-interested they are, are realizing what a lot of teenage girls have known for years. Paper dolls have moved online and they have gotten much more interesting. The paper dolls of old are long gone, and online paper dolls have styles you wouldn’t even think possible.

Most of these websites, such as TheDollPalace.com, are devoted to girl dress up games, and some of the most popular of these are celebrity dress up games. Some of the most prominent stars on television and movies have been used as a model for a base doll, much like an online Barbie, and you can spend hours dressing your favorite Hollywood starlet. There are outfits appropriate for every day or adoption wear right on up to the Academy Awards.

More on Celebrities

The girl dress up is not the only celebrity item on these sites by any means. If you really know your celebs, you can take a stab at various contests that run through the site. For example, a great many dolls have already been created showing starlets in their award show finery. All you have to do is figure out which doll belongs to which star. There are also occasional articles that pertain to celebrity gossip or news items that can be a fun way to kill time every now and again.

Your Celebrity Wardrobe

Even if you’re not celebrity obsessed, you might be interested in looking a bit more polished. Most celebrities spend a great deal of time on their look and consult a stylist for major wardrobe purchases or hair style changes (with one notable exception.) You may not be able to afford a stylist, but you can track what the celebrities are wearing and build your own outfits right on the site.

Try out the latest looks of the season on a doll of your choosing to see if you can piece everything together and come up with something truly fashionable, yet uniquely you at the same time. After all, imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but nobody wants to become a Hollywood clone.

BuddyTV’s Debbie Chang recently interviewed Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr, the actress who plays Vanessa Abrams on the CW TV teen drama. In their conversation, Szohr shared how she identified with her character and the difference between her and Vanessa’s style.

Jessica Szohr said that out of all the characters on the show, she could relate to Vanessa the most. “I come from Wisconsin , so living in New York , and especially on the Upper East Side , is very different from where I grew up. Mostly, personally, I could relate to Vanessa, which is great because that’s who I’m playing,” she explained.

In preparation for her role, Szohr read some of the books where the show was based on. Szohr admitted that even she was surprised that there were changes.

“I took a couple of books to read on the plane to kind of make a backstory for her, and when I was reading the script…writers and the executive producers were doing something different with the show than with the book…Vanessa was very different. Vanessa shaves her head in the books, wears combat boots and has a ton of piercings, and I have a full head of curly, frizzy hair,” she said

Szohr shared that it was Eric Damon and the other costume designers who decided that Vanessa be more of a bohemian, earthy kind of girl. Vanessa’s style is different from Szohr’s, but she admitted to enjoying the dressing up part. “I think it’s so fun because Vanessa dresses a lot different than I do in real life, so it’s fun when they give me all these patterns and bright shoes and all that…they’re so good at what they do, so I always trust their instincts,” said Szohr. Outside her shoots, Szohr just puts on jeans, t-shirts and flip-flops.

Szohr confirmed that there are only five episodes left before season 1 ends. “It was supposed to be originally nine episodes… they’ve crammed nine episodes into five. [There are] weddings, people coming out with their sexuality, and a lot of stuff,” she squealed.
